India's Vision Net-Zero 2070

Tracking global sustainability efforts amid persistent climate challenges is crucial as governments, including India, prioritize environmental sustainability. As acknowledged, "The climate crisis isn’t just an environmental issue—it’s a financial one."

At COP28, discussions highlighted the urgency of transitioning away from fossil fuels. India's stance underscores its pivotal role in achieving not only net-zero emissions but also broader climate imperatives. During a recent G7 meeting in Paris, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reaffirmed India’s commitment to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2070, emphasizing principles of energy strategy: availability, accessibility, affordability, and acceptability.

While achieving net-zero remains a crucial long-term goal, India’s climate strategy must address immediate challenges such as water scarcity, deforestation, and biodiversity loss. This necessitates comprehensive steps tackling underlying causes of environmental deterioration, including sustainable agriculture, ecosystem restoration, and climate-resilient infrastructure development. Expanding the focus beyond renewable energy alone is essential for a truly sustainable path forward.

In response to these pressing issues, NHEV — joined by GovConnect (an initiative by ilouge Media) — is hosting a one-day event titled ‘Energy Transition Conclave: Vision Net-Zero 2070’, aimed at advancing the national dialogue on sustainable energy transition.
